FTC helped our girls realize that many of the girls they knew or learned about grew up without opportunities like FTC, so they never had the chance to enhance their passions and curiosity for STEM. Despite their interest in STEM, women make up about 35% of STEM jobs, which is unacceptable. This is why we wanted to create a free program for girls as young as 8 so they can start building their passions. To help girls of all ages learn about the world around them we teach them robotics, biology, chemistry, and physics. girls in STEM is a program that we started in the 2024-2025 season to help girls become the best versions of themselves they can be.
Our Mission:
Through GIRLS in STEM and LEADERSHIP, our goal is to uplift and inspire female participation in STEM and LEADERSHIP through early empowerment, education and motivation by removing barriers and improving access to leadership and technology.
We are still in our beginning stages but one thing we realized was that we needed to connect with people who have been doing this type of work and find some synergy
Upcoming Events/Featuring Girls In STEM
Presentation at Jacob Wismer Elementary, Beaverton School District
We are thrilled to announce one of our initial upcoming events: a presentation and robot demonstration at Jacob Wismer Elementary School! This exciting opportunity allows us to connect directly with younger students and spark their interest in robotics and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields.
Being Featured on the Stoller Newsletter! (Stoller Middle School, Beaverton School District)
We recognized the importance of sharing our passion for Girls In STEM with the broader school community, and we saw an opportunity to inspire and engage other young minds who may be interested in pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. To achieve this, we decided to reach out to the school administration and request a feature in the Stoller Newsletter, a widely-read publication that showcases student-led initiatives and activities. through this, extended an invitation to interested students to join us, emphasizing the benefits of being part of a community that supports and empowers girls to explore their interests in STEM fields.
