We explained to passerbys about the FIRST Robotics Programs and how their kids could get involved. We provided resources and contact information so that people interested in FIRST could have some insight on the program. We also let kids participate in a drone-launching competition, and explained how our robot worked to them.
Motivating Kids at the library
PWe presented our robot at the Brookwood library at their Lego session for young children. Participants included young kids who lined up to try drone launch with our robot, and many came back to try it a second and third time. Around 46 people including adults and children attended this session.
FLL Mentoring
FLL Team 62725 'MasterMindz' came over and presented their innovation project and we gave them our feedback. They were really motivated and inspired by seeing how our robot works. We explained a bit about FTC and how it's different from FLL and provided tips from our experience.
We assisted those interested in joining or forming a team during our Zoom information session, discussed the advantages of FIRST Programs for Youth.
Our whole team volunteered at the FLL State Championship Tournament on 3/17 from the very beginning until teardown. Doing this, we were able to further acknowledge the value of volunteers and realized how crucial they are for the event to be a success. We volunteered in all of the aspects, such as Judging Queuers, Pit Runners, Teardown, and Field Resetters.
After we volunteered at the FLL Tournament, before award ceremony we got the opportunity to do a demo before the award ceremony and talked about FTC and how our robot works. We reached a crowd of around 400 people and we were very happy with the reponse from the interested crowd
We had a robotics info session at the Cedar Mill Library on Sunday, April 7th, in which we did a demo for kids to learn about all of the FIRST Robotics Programs, to learn about how to get your kids involved, and have hands-on experience with a real FTC robot! We provided flyers and answered questions regarding FIRST Programs.
We had a tabling event at OMSI for their Asian American Pacific Peoples Community Science Night on April 20th. We connected with a lot of different parents and children and gave them information about FIRST and robotics. We let the children also engage with our robot and get a hands-on experience with our robot.
Our team volunteered at the JFLL event at McDaniel High School on 5/4 from setting up to teardown. We volunteered in all of the aspects, such as Activity Assistant, Judging, Teardown, emcee and Floaters. Doing this we ensured that the event ran smoothly and helped out the event coordinators with running the event
At the Hillsboro Airshow event on 5/19, we had the opportunity to introduce FIRST programs to a vibrant and engaging audience. Our team showcased our robot, and a thrilling demo-run of the game. The event drew a lot of enthusiastic visitors who stopped by to explore. We had a really positive response and an amazing time engaging our audience!
We set up a bake sale with delicious treats near a neighborhood, giving information about FIRST programs to people who passed by. It was a great success in which the community was really curious and interested which led to over $100 in sales!
Beaverton Library Showcase
We had a FIRST Informational session where interested parents and kids came to learn more about FIRST programs. We also showcased our robot, explained how our robot was built and coded and gave them a demo-run of the game. Around a 100 people stopped by to learn more and take a look at our robot.
Showcase at India Festival
We set up a stall at India's independence day event on August 11th in which around 10,000 people attended. A lot of interested parents and kids came around asking a lot of questions. Everyone was really excited and curious and even a few interested mentors approached us. Overall we had a really good crowd and good outcome.
OMSI event for ORTOP
We had a live robotics demo event presented by ORTOP on 9/15. We gave out flyers about FIRST programs and let kids drive our robot. They got to experience and learn more about robotics. Around 200 people showed up and were excited to learn more. An interested mentor talked to us about possibly mentoring our team, and even an artist painted us and the robot field!
First Fare Event
We had two workshops at the First Fare event - Intro for Rookie Teams" and "Tensor Flow Object Detection", where we taught other FTC and FRC teams regarding these workshops. We also attended other workshops where other teams and mentors presented and shared their experiences with us.
Beach Clean-up Event
We hosted a beach clean-up event at Seaside beach on October 6th, where we helped clean up the plastic and trash that was at the beach. This event coordinated with this year's theme ¨Into The Deep¨. We set up a table where people came by for information about FIRST and to learn about what we were doing and we handed out flyers. This was a very fun event and we are very glad we got to help out the community!
Best Coding Practices Presentation
We hosted a presentation on behalf of SSR from John Q Delos Reyes(an engineer from Intel Corp) on "Best Coding Practices" at Cedar Mill Library. This was a really engaging and helpful presentation which helped out some rookie FTC members who just formed a team. We also showed them our robot to give them some inspiration and gave them our contact info for further communication.
Presentation at Jacob Wismer Elementary
We were able to go to Jacob Wismer Elementary to introduce FIRST and Robotics to the kids. We also showcased our robot and let them drive our robot which all of them were so excited to check out! A lot of the kids were interested in STEM after checking out our robot and hearing more about our journey. Thank you to Jacob Wismer for having us!
Introducing FIRST to Findley Elementary
We had a presentation for the 5th graders at Findley Elementary. They were an exciting and curious bunch and were asking lots of amazing questions! We had a great time talking to them about FIRST and robotics and our journey so far. A lot of them who were interested in pursuing robotics stayed behind to take a closer look at our robot and get our contact if they have any questions! Their teacher also sent us the thank you cards they made us for us, which we are so grateful for. Thank you for having us Findley!
Booth at Stoller STEM Fair
We got the opportunity to have a booth at the Stoller STEM Fair! A lot of interested parents and students passed by to learn about FIRST programs and our robot. There was a crowd of around 300 people.
